Goes Great With…Faye Dunaway!

faye-dunaway

Today is Faye Dunaway‘s birthday — happy birthday, Faye.  If you happen to be in Napa, please, stop on by & I’ll fix you up with a nice bottle of wine!

I know that is a bit random, but it all somehow circles back into some semblence of order eventually.  I’m sure this post will circle back somehow.  See — I like movies & try to pair wines that might go best with a certain movie…or a certain actor in the movie…or even certain scenes within a movie.  And in my opinion, if Faye Dunaway herself were a wine, she’d be something mighty fine.

And, here comes the circling back part…I was pouring Humanitas at a function the other night at the Kabuki Theatre sundance-institutein San Francisco.  It was an event hosted by Robert Redford for the Sundance Institute.  Sounds like I really rub shoulders with the movers & shakers, huh?  Nope — I was asked by a friend if I’d donate wine & pour (along with 3 or 4 other wineries) as a favor.  I got to shake hands with ‘Bob’, so I got that going for me…and vice versa (!).  But I do have to admit that my Humanitas 2006 Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon was tasting awfully nice.  I guess I could say that it ‘goes great with’ Sundance events.

Meanwhile, back to Faye.

Maybe some of you had figured out the connection here.  Faye co-starred with Bob (I’m now on a first name basis with these folks!) in Three Days of the Condor way back in 1975, and the two of them were so good together.  They had a chess-scene-3wonderful chemisty and Faye was just smokin’.

And of course, this reminded me of her with Steve McQueen in the Thomas Crown Affair where Faye was even more incredible.  The chess-playing scene is one of the finest ‘tease’ scenes in movie history.

Anyway, I was thinking about what wine I’d have with these movies…which made me wonder… what wine Faye would be if she were a wine?  Got any suggestions?
