Drink Charitably!

Declarative statement:  the best Holiday movie ever is ‘It’s A Wonderful Life.’

There.  I said it.  Now go ahead and challenge me.

Seriously, Frank Capra‘s classic is a glorious example of how movies should be made, and it is made even more perfect by Jimmy Stewart in his best performance.  And Jimmy Stewart at his best is arguably the best it can get.  You know, this movie may not only be the best Holiday movie of all time…it just may be the best movie of all time. 

Now remember, I’m a total sap.  I weep openly at this movie.  Hell, I weep openly at some commercials!  For cripe’s sake I started a winery that gives all it’s profits to charity — you know I’m a sap!!  That said, this is the best ever.

Watch It – Earn Your Wings

 OK — so here’s what you do.  Find someone you love — and grab a good bottle of wine.  I recommend a bright crisp Sauvignon Blanc for the first third of the movie, a well-aged & moody Cabernet for the middle third, and clearly your preferred Champagne for the final third.  Those wines match well with this classic.

And after you’ve watched It’s A Wonderful Life, make a list of everything you are thankful for — no matter how tiny/insignificant you think it is.  This Holiday, make sure you help make everyone around you know that it really is a wonderful life.  Let me know what you think is the best Holiday movie ever — and your favorite of all time.  Let’s find the right wines to match with those movies.
